Palworld hosting cost explained
Isn't KRW 100,000/month expensive for a friend server?
It can feel expensive. Some Minecraft servers can run for KRW 5,000-10,000/month, but Palworld currently has much higher memory requirements and cannot be priced the same way.
Why use 32GB RAM?
The current Palworld server program can keep accumulating memory that should normally be released. Around 8GB RAM may terminate quickly under multiplayer load, and even 32GB can still require restarts depending on player count and play patterns. For now, MongCloud considers sub-32GB multiplayer hosting impractical.
What about running it yourself on AWS or GCP?
A general-purpose cloud instance with around 32GB RAM running 24/7 plus hundreds of GB of traffic can cost far more than KRW 100,000/month. Depending on region and date, an r6i.xlarge-class example with network traffic can reach the KRW 200,000-300,000/month range. That can be right for people who want to design everything themselves, but it is a lot for a simple friend server.
Will cheaper plans be available later?
If the Palworld server memory issue improves, we plan to open more configurations. Lower-cost hosting may become possible then.
